Kiba walked into the Dango shop and looked about before taking a seat at an empty table. He yawned and closed his eyes listening to the silence that had surrounded the common shop. Akamaru stuck his head out of his masters jacket and licked his pointed teeth. Kiba opened his eyes slowly and sniffed the air. His mouth began to water and Kiba held back some drool that threatened to come out. He licked his lips and then his fangs. His stomach growled loudly at the thought of some sweet dumplings, a desert or treat, Kiba had not had for several months.
Saturobi Asuma strolled inside eyeing the store with a lazy glance.Seeing a sign he stepped back out for a moment. He snickered and pulled out his stub of a cigerette from his lips. "Aw no smoking. Of course" He commented as he tossed the burnt out cigerette outside before entering and shutting the door behind him. Asuma looked about and coughed as he decided where to sit.

[glow=red,2,300]Sakura walked along the side walk, making a sudden stop infront of the Dango shop, getting that sweet, warm, and such pleasant smell, that came from freshly made sweet dumplings. She stood quietly infront of the shop, looking through the glass, seeing only but two persons inside. The smell of freshly made dumplings continued to swirl around her like a gentle breeze, taunting her more and more every second. She took a deep breath and walked inside quietly. She looked about, looking for any empty seat that was rather easy, since only two chairs were occupied out of all the rest. She sat down a table near a window, waiting to be attended... [/glow]

Kurenai did not know what had brought her to the Dango Shop. She had immersed herself in studies again, locked in her flat and surrounded by what was nearly half the library. But the series she was studying was volumes long, and fascinating...it had everything from cryptology (a skill she had picked up during the war) to kenjutsu, to even analysing famous shinobi battles...the scholar in her was in heaven, but it seemed her stomach was something of a rebel. After several hours of enduring its grumblings, she had finally risen and slipped her feet into her sandals.
The dead quiet of her apartment had been replaced with the chatter of the lively village, once she had made her sneaky exit from the window (an ingrained habit she supposed she'd never break). Wandering through the village, she had caught the scent of dango, a sweet, cinnamony smell, and had been hooked. Right. She was apparently craving dango.
Kurenai hadn't complained though, and had followed the smell to its source, always the good tracker. Moving aside the curtain and stepping into the stall, she was surprised to notice three familiar figures...Smiling lightly to herself, Kurenai took a seat in one of the empty seats between Kiba and Asuma.
"Kiba-kun. Asuma. This is a surprise." Placing her order for her chichi-dango, she rested her chin in her hand, tapping her nails on the counter. Despite having become more friendly since she had started training Team 8, Kurenai was still fairly quiet, and not much of a conversationalist.

Asuma turned his head to spot Yuuhei Kurenai appear. He let his classic smirk grace his features as he watched her sit between him and the Inuzuka.
Asuma nodded his head in greating. "Ohayo to you as well Kurenai-chan seems forever since I last saw your pretty face..." Asuma complemented.
He bent over and took a single toothpick and stuck it in his mouth. Yes, the toothpick only served as a substitute. "Are you doing well Yuuhei?" He asked casually and lazily accepted his order from the waitress. He licked his lips. "Want a bite?" He offered. His smirk grew. "On second thought I'll wait for you to get your food...I'm still polite at times..." He snickered. "And as such a gentlemen I will eat along side a woman."
Kiba looked up from his food and gave a toothy grin as a hello. He swallowed the last of his food and wiped his mouth sloppily with his jacket sleeve. "Exuse Kurenai-sensei, Asuma-sensei...but I gotta jet. I gotta get Akamaru from the vet. Can't wait till training starts up once more Kurenai-sensei" He bowed and made his loud exit after he paid.

"I expect to see you tomorrow morning at seven," Kurenai called after Kiba, a small smile on her face. She had to admit, she was proud of him. He had grown...he was still gruff and distinctly Inuzuka, but he had grown to function as part of the team, with more consideration to his teammates... Asuma's voice pulled her from her reverie.
Blushing faintly at the compliment, she hooked her dark hair behind her ears, shifting her red eyes to stare off after the woman preparing her dango.
"I've been doing fine, Asuma." Kurenai spoke softly, glancing back to him. He offered his dango to her, so casually, and she arched a brow.
"I was unaware that you possessed such manners," she commented, a smirk slipping onto her face. Let the banter begin.

"Oho....good one there Kurenai-chan." He said sarcastically. Asuma would normally give a smart quip back but he bit his toothpick and held it down. He couldn't be rude just as he was putting up the polite attitude. He snickered and tried to fight the urge. He closed his eyes and casually recilined in the seat.
He slowly opened his eyes to take a quick glance at her. "Ah....come on now Yuuhei-san...." He changed suffixes. "Blushing at a compliment? I believe you diserved it." He nodded calmly. "Although...you always were cute when you blushed." He chuckled softly. "Even back in our Academy days..." He snickered
He used a free hand to toy with his spiky beard as a grin spread on his face. "I'm glad that you are doing fine." He blinked and looked straight at her his face unmoving. Silently he stared at her. Red eyes. He always had been intranced by her red crimson orbs.

Kurenai's smirk grew faintly at his sarcasm, amusement dancing in her eyes. He was probably itching to fire a retort back at her, but he seemed...committed to play the role of gentlemen. Privately, she preferred his roughness. It made for, perhaps, a few embarrassing moments, but it was much more...him.
He changed attack angles, and she looked over to him, curious at his change of pace. He mentioned her blushing and she looked quickly away, cheeks beginning to match her eyes. Internally, she berated herself. Some Jounin. She was sitting her, blushing like a schoolgirl over Asuma's comments, when she could (and had) gut a man in thirty seconds without batting an eye. "I don't really remember seeing you back in the Academy," Kurenai admitted quietly. "I was usually studying. And then the war..."
She trailed off, leaving that train of thought behind. She hated how everything seemed to come back to the war. She couldn't let it go, really. It had defined her, created her, and she was so out-of-place in peace...not like Asuma, who seemed perfectly at home in these times.
Looking back to him, she was surprised to see his steady gaze fixed on her eyes. Unnerved, and feeling more heat rise to her cheeks, she was grateful for the interruption by the waitress. "Itadakimasu," She murmured quietly, before taking a bite of one of the dumplings. The sugar danced about her tongue, the taste lingering after she swallowed.
"How have you been, Asuma? As you said, it has been some time...have any good missions lately?"
[[Doh! >_< I can't believe I forgot to close my tag! -facepalm-]]

He smirked gently. He really did enjoy the blush. It entertained him. The both of them being more reserved Jounins. Asuma shrugged casually. "Well half the time I spent at the Academy I was playing around with Gai, Aoba, Iwashi, Kotetsu, so on...but the other half od the time I'd drift off to get a new book on practical fighting and what not...I always watched you out of the corner of my eye. I suppose when I first met you...you looked so fimiliar because I couldn't forget your eyes"
He snickered. His face fell into another one of his serious looks. "Hm...living in the past Kurenai-chan isn't good....you live in the past and it will repeat itself...and I do...understand how you feel" Yes, Asuma had been in his fair share of some of the worst battles but he learned patients kept him from making false judgements.
He looked up at the waitress slightly dissapointed. "Ah...right Itidikamasu" He replied before picking up a dumpling and delicatly eating it. He savered the taste.
Asuma's eyes traveled to her. He swallowed and opened his mouth to reply. "Hai, I just came back from one..." He nodded. "And you? What have you been doing lately?"

Kurenai tried to remember the going ons of the other children in the academy. She certainly remembered Gai (even then, he had always been very...very green)...and she remembered a few of the upper and lower classmen (Genma and Hayate stood out in particular)...Asuma, she supposed, was in her memories, part of the background. He never did much to attract attention to himself. Kurenai liked that about him. It made him all the more real and solid, and not just a vapid expression, fleeting and surreal.
She chose not to speak by eating another of the round balls of dango, glancing back at him as he spoke. His expression was serious, and so she listened. She had always respected his wisdom. Ever since she could remember, he had been a rock, sturdy and wise, someone to fall back on. He wasn't like Gai who, though someone she trusted, was too easily distracted, or like Kakashi, who was too aloof, even for Kurenai.
She closed her eyes, and breathed in the lingering smell of tobacco. It was an earthy and tangy scent, one that nearly sent shivers down her spine (but not, because she was kunoichi, and she had control over herself). It was familiar and tickled her nose. She smiled slightly, just a faint twitch of the lips, but swallowed and opened her eyes. "I've been on a few missions with my squad...I've been studying recently though. I've found a new series to consume my time with..." And by series, you better as hell believe she means a series. Of volumes. Big enough to rival Hinata-chan in weight (though that's not hard...).

He looked over to her. "I'm sorry Yuuhei-chan...I must have drifted off into my act like I'm wise speeches" He apologized.
Asuma cocked his head to the side and watched her in silence. "Kurenai-chan....why did you stop your smile?" He asked in his usual husky voice. "I just saw you smile...and you should more often"
He picked up another dumbling and examined it carefully through narrowed eyes. "Series? With you I doubt it's just a series....I think it would be more than that." He spoke calmly. His smirk twitch into a small smile. "Honestly" He stuffed the dumpling in his mouth.
He look to his side and winked at her. He swallowed. "Training eh? I need to get back to training my team." He nodded. "Oh...mind if I take a look at this 'series' of your Yuuhi chan?" He tilted his head and ran on hand through his disheveled black main and then followed after by tracing his pointy beard in though. "May I ask what perfume youre wearing? Smells like cherries and flowers" He sniffed the air. "Right? Or Wrong? Do tell me"

Kurenai started at his sudden apology, and realized that she must have been quite rude, not responding to his words of wisdom. "Don't apologize...I was listening." She said quietly. Most people would be rather confused by the simple comments, thinking her still rude. But the genjutsu mistress trusted Asuma to understand that she was still thinking over his comments, memorizing them and taking them to heart.
Of all the veterans, he was the only one she had really reestablished her bond with.
Finishing off the last dumpling on the needle, she looked over to Asuma, blinking once at his unusual comment. Her smile? Her smiles were always faint and fleeting, half-hearted and reserved, demure even. Men didn't expect women like her to kill without a seconds hesitation...Kurenai was so used to the role, that it had become a part of her. If she had been raised as anything but a kunoichi, a finely tuned weapon, she might have been disgusted.
"It's a series," She affirmed, the smile twitching at her lips again. "The volumes are, perhaps, lengthy, but it's a series....it's a comprehensive study of Fire Country history, and it's...very detailed."
She arched a brow (was he not training his team lately? Then she remembered that Nara-kun was chuunin, and they were likely split up as such) and was surprised at his comment. No one ever commented on her perfume before, unless it was a perfume made to be commented on. This one lacked the aphrodisiacs many of her mission-only perfumes contained, and was rather...simple. She couldn't help another blush from rising to her cheeks (this was becoming a dangerous habit).
"L-lavender and sakura blossoms..." She said finally. ...hell no. She did not just stutter.

"Oh no it's not that I thought you weren't listening. For I trust you were. You always seem to listen to nessasary things..." He ate his last dumpling and swallowed it before continuing. "Ah...but I go into so many life lessons that I just guessed you have grown tired of hearing it."
He shrugged calmly. "I like your smiles Kurenai-chan" He stated simply. "You should wear it more often. Of course you don't nhave to wear it in battle" He nodded as he waited for the check. "Keep your smile for more than a fleeting second."
Asuma nodded. "I see...Lavendar...close" He snickered. "Always off..." He smiled at her stutter. "Ah...but it suits you well Yuuhi-chan...its a calming nice scent....it matches everything about you" He nodded honestly.
"Kurenai-chan...care to make a deal with me?" He quirked an eyebrow upward. The he went as usual coming up with a calm proposal. "I will pay for this if you give me a true smile for ten seconds at the very least...."

Her eyes focused on Asuma again, the red orbs flickering in the light of the stall, not open, but not closed off. Her expression was decidedly neutral and calm. "Never," She mused, absently fiddling with the now bare skewer from her dango. She spun it like a senbon about her fingers, red eyes locked on the glistening metal. "I'll never grow tired of them."
Flicking her eyes over to him, she felt very aware of the heat in her cheeks and his rumbling snickers, which seemed to reverberate all around her, enveloping her. "Thank you," she commented, not noticing the women bringing the check around. Hands resting on her lap, she felt his presence surrounding her, and was entirely too conscious of the distance.
He posed his question, his deal, and she looked up, startled. He was very good at catching her off-guard, surprising her. Awkwardly looking away, she wondered when he had started thriving on her discomfort. Quietly closing her eyes, Kurenai tried to think calmly and rationally. Opening her eyes to look at him and his almost expectant expression, she giggled into her hand, smiling brightly at his expression.
He just...she found it funny, how far he went, trying to make her happy, smile..she couldn't help but comply with his proposal.

Saturobi Asuma gave her a sideways glance. "You flatter me..." He gave her an honest smile. He watched her toy with the metal stick as if it were a shiny weapon. Not that it couldn't become one. Asuma let his chesire smile grow into a grin. "Some habits don't die huh?" He asked tilting his head.
He watched her flush he sighed. "Well...do you mind? I'll pay and I'll walk you to your place" He smiled softly and took the check. He bowed and said his thanks. "Besides....it would be rude not to pay for the dinner of such a lovely, ravishing, friend of mine." He bent forward and signed the check. He pulled out his wallet from his pocket and carefully set out the money. He slowly put the wallet back in his pocket.
His head tilted as she let out a giggle. "Aw." He muttered. A wink was given and a look of satisfaction crossed his face. "A giggle to add? I'm a lucky man to be around at this moment." He joked and put a hand over his heart.
He slid out of his seat. He bent over and offered his hand to Kurenai to help guide her out of her seat.
