"This world is host to nine powerful spirit creatures called the Tailed Beasts, each with a different number of tails from one to nine," answered Taj, "They are capable of tremendous destruction, channels of infinite chakra. Humans being human, they wanted to harness that power for themselves. Ultimately, the only way to harness it is to trap the spirits within the body of a child, thus creating a potential Ninja with grotesque ammounts of chakra and other powers."
He smiled sadly, "The Villages treat what Jinkiri they possess as the ultimate in secret weapons, guarding their identities with all their skill and power. Even so... Konoha proably has the Nine-Tailed Jinkiri, considering that the beast vanished assaulting this village 13 years ago... No matter. Sudden spikes in power are one of their signature traits, and if you lost to one of them... I would lose to a Jinkiri one on one, should I bring myself to break my oath and fight it."

Yoh listened to Taj's explanation about the jinjuriki as the monk continued to heal him. Although it still didn't make him feel any better. Demon or not it didn't change the fact that he lost with that one move. And became so useless that they had to retreat from battle and fail their mission.
The young Kaguya looked back down to the ground not wanting to really talk anymore. His mind continuing to think of a way to make up for his failure in the Mist. There had to be someway besides what he had in mind right? He wanted to ask Taj about it but most likely he was going to tell him something about how he should just move on and that missions weren't always successful.
'Should I ask him?' he asked himself in his mind not knowing whether or not he should. After all Taj has been kind enough to do a lot for him. Heal him, teach him, talk to him it all meant a lot to him. Although Yoh just couldn't bring himself to speak much anymore.

(Time for blunt post.)
Taj deactivated his Jutsu as the last exposed wound was healed, interally glad of it because his chakra levels weren't at their maximum after a day of healing. He considered the dejected Genin, narrowing one eye and deciding to simply get to the point, make an ultimatum.
"Kaguya Yoh. Long as you continue to hold your doubts within yourself, they will continue to destract and harm you," he gently intoned, "Speak your fears to me, settle what you can of them, and then we can go teach you the last and greatest of the dances I know. Fear no judgement from me, Kinsmen, and lighten your burdens by sharing them if you will."

Once Taj was finished with the healing the young Kaguya sat up on the table the monk had him lye on. Yoh looking at himself seeing that all his injuries were gone along with the pain. "Thank you Taj-dono," he said softly as he grabbed his robe and put it back on him as he heard his older kin speak.
After hearing him Yoh bit his bottom lip hesitating as to whether or not he should speak to him on the subject, "I- I don't know," Yoh said softly looking down at the ground still debating not knowing whether or not he should speak to him about what he had planed. After all there was always that chance that he was going to go against it despite the fact that he said that he wouldn't judge him. Besides everyone judged one another based on what they do, think, and say. Taj would be no different.
For a while Yoh remained silent, still deciding whether or not to say anything to him. He felt uncomfortable about talking so much it felt odd. But then again if talking to him about his problems before helped maybe they would now. "Actually theres a couple things I wanted to talk to you about," the young Kaguya finally spoke up after about 5 minutes of staying silent desciting whether or not he should speak to him about anything. Even the things he wanted to talk to him about since before his mission however he was to shy to ask about it.
“However you have to promise me that you won't tell Ame-sensei or anyone else,” Yoh continued emphasizing anyone to mean not his sensei, his friends, or even the Hokage herself, “You know.... kin to kin?” he begged waiting for an answer before he would speak up about what was troubling him.

"You have my solemn word as one of the last Kaguya and a Monk of the Peaceful One that what you tell me here and now will remain secret between us until the day you wish for that to change," replied Taj, features serene and waiting for Yoh to gather his courage of soul again and unburden himself.
(This sounds big, Kaz. Hit me.)

(Eh, to Yoh it's big)
"Well..." he began and quickly cut himself off. Bitting his bottom lip again hesitating to speak about it. However he did say that he would tell him and he wasn't going to go against his words just because he was afraid to. Yoh bringing his knees up Yoh wrapping his arms around his legs before speaking up again.
"Well you know how I said it was my fault about us failing the mission?" he asked not expecting an answer he was just mentioning it to remind him that he said it. "Well I've been trying to think of someway to make up for making us fail. Ever since we retreated I began thinking about this however I've only been able to think up of one thing...." Yoh trailed off stomach feeling unease speaking so.... so openly to anyone. Hell he wouldn't even tell Kaz about such things and he has known him for years. And yet he was speaking to someone who he had just met about a week ago.
Although with Taj he felt really comfortable being around. Kind of like when he was back with his dad. Although he made sure to keep in mind that Taj wasn't his father he was just kin. "I was thinking of leaving the village for a while to try and find the guy I was fighting and pretend to join him. After all he was part of the group that took the scrolls. Since he was so obsessed with taking me to join I'd figure that I wouldn't get killed on the spot once I found him. After I found him I'm guess he would lead me back to where they hide out or somewhere near there until he can completely trust me and once I'm able to get close enough I would steal back the scrolls and try and escape. That or just escape so that I could tell where Kusanagi was. However I know I'm going to need to get the scrolls for sure since if I were to just escape who knows they would probably just move if they;re place is small."
"Although escaping with either seems dangorus so I was planning on getting stronger here before leaving and then getting stronger over there so that I would be able to fight back at the very least if they were to ever catch me trying to escape," Yoh explained to him looking away from Taj not wanting to see his reaction to the only plan he was able to think of. His hands shaking at the thought of doing so. After all he had heard of how terrifying Kusanagi was, and the fact that he actually grew a small fear of his opponent since the fight just made things worse. However he knew he was going to have to get over that.
"I've been trying to think of another way but I can't think of any way to make up for failing this mission unless I make it a successful one somehow. Can you think of anything I can do? And please don't just say just to move on because not all missions are successful or anything like that." Yoh continued waiting to hear the Monk say something. Yoh bracing himself for some type of out burst just in case for he knew that would be the reaction out of the people he knew.
Although as nervous as he was about the monk's reaction he did feel relvived a bit for telling him.

Taj tilted his head to one side, a thoughtful smile flickering across his face. "A teacher of mine once said that you can only do what makes you content. He was a brave man who helped me 'retire' from Stone service at great risk to his life and rank when I was only a few years older than you," the Monk intoned, "So it would be hypocritcal of me to get upset at you for wanting to do something so... recklessly courageous."
"Make no mistake, Yoh. What you plan is dangerous beyond belief and part of me wants to subdue you now and prevent you from doing it for your own good," he paused, holding up one slender finger to still the Genin's tongue, "However, all living beings have freedom of choice in their action, and in this act, I see great potential for good, both for you and this Village. IF you feel you can conceal your true thoughts under the most relentless preasure every minute of every day, are prepared to face alone the fury of a powerful eniemy when you unveil your deception, and have no doubts that this is the wisest course of action you can achieve... Then go. Act."
He smiled again, "That or you could confess doubt this to your Sensi Ame, and see if she would swing it into a multiperson Mission with a better chance of success. I won't say anything, but I ask you to reflect on it a few days, come back to talk to me when you've made a choice, allow me the chance to help you."

Yoh continued to look away as he still waited for Taj to say something. Although when he began this blue eyes shifted toward him in complete surprise. He didn't think Taj would be so understanding about what he was planning. His eyes looked away once more when he mentioned that part of him want to prevent him from doing this, however Yoh felt that he had to in order to not only get the scrolls back but also revile the where abouts of Kusanagi.A thin smile appearing on his face when he heard that he had Taj's support on what he had planned. The young genin feeling a lot better knowing that he had it. When he mentioned telling Ame-sensei about it Yoh shook his head in protest, "I can't, I really don't think she'll be as understanding as you," Yoh objected about telling her taking a moment to take in Taj's suggestions though. "And yeah I'm still in a debate as to whether or not I should do it and I was going to think about it for the next few days. Also I was wondering this before I went on my mission if you be willing to take me in as an apprentice?"
"At the very least long enough for me to train if I do deside to do this as long as Ame-sensei dosen't mind," Yoh continued hoping that Taj would say yes. For at least that way he knew for a fact that he really could get all the training he needed. For if he were to stick with Ame-sensei up til he planed on leaving he knew that he wouldn't get the training he needed. He need someone so he culd focus on training instead of dividing his time between training and missions, "So what do you say? Will you?"

(Oh boy. All my older characters on this site are gettign students. Chaos.)
Taj's smile faded to a serious mask at Yoh's request, troubling emotions flashing across his pupils. He sighed, caught between concern for his younger kinsmen and the realities of his oath of nonviolence. The Kaguya Monk brought his hands together near his waist before replying, eyes meeting the Genin's, "I am prepared to train you in all the skills I possess and should you wish to infiltrate this foe's camp, acompany you on your quest, aid you as I may. However, I am a Monk of the Peaceful One, and for me to accept you as a formal aprentisce would require that you take on certain burdens you likely are not ready to shoulder. It would be unfair to you."
His eyes turned dark, determined resolve leaking into his tone, "I will teach you informally though, from one kinsmen to another. There are few enough of us left on this world, and too many of those are lost to the battle madness of our blood."

(Tis because your such a great teacher ^^)
A questionable look came across the young Kaguya's face as he noticed the unease look that came across his older kinmen's face. Was it that bad to ask if he could be his apprentice? Yoh still looking up at him as he continued to sit on he table waiting for his answer. The young genin noticing the troubled look he had in them.
'Guess it was wrong to ask,' Yoh thought to himself before Taj finally spoke up. The young genin listening to everything he had to say. A questionable look going across his face as he spoke about how it would be unfair to him. Yoh not understanding just what were the burdens would he have to carry?
Yoh continued to look into the older Kaguya's eyes as they seemed to have darken. Was him asking really that bad? Although Taj agreed to teach him Yoh couldn't help but feel that he was pressuring him into doing so. As happy as he was about Taj agreeing to train him he still felt a bit depressed about Taj's reaction.
"I'm sorry," Yoh said softly knowing that Taj sudden change in personality was because of him. "And I thank you for being willing to train me and help me out if I decide to try and go after the scrolls. Although if you don't mind me asking just what burdens are you talking about that prevents you from making me a formal apprentice?" the Kaguya questioned wanting to know why Taj's emotions changed the way they did.

Taj closed his eyes and recovered some more poise, opening his eyes, still serious but less overtly troubled, "I am a Monk of the Peaceful One, sworn to nonviolence against all living things with the potential for good. If you were to become my aprentisce, you would have to take a similar oath, possibly less severe but still crippling in your current profession. Also, I could only protect you against an outside threat, bear you away from battle, not assault that foe myself. It is very hard at times but I have held to my promise."
He sighed, looking away sadly, "And I have too many deaths on my consciense to take on an aprenstice who might get killed due to the limitations of my difficult Path of Peace. So many have died on my blades, I have yet to restore the balance in my healing... And before you ask, my sparing with you during our training does not count as violence because of it's intent to teach and the healing I give afterward."
The Kaguya Monk, exhaled firmly, facing Yoh again with the ghost of a smile, "I suppose very much that you could call that Oath my own guilt-induced quest, insane as it might sound."

Yoh continued to watch Taj as he recovered a bit although the genin was easily able to tell that he was still depressed. Yoh still sitting with his leg up with his hands still wrapped around his legs. The young Kaguya listening to him when he explained what both what his Oath was and what it meant.
Blue eyes looking down when he mentioned that he would have to take an similar oath if he were to be his apprentice. Yoh trying to imagine how it would be if he took that kind of oath and still trying to pursue the ninja way. Although with that kind of Oath it seemed almost.... impossible. How Taj was able to deal with was almost unknown to him.
Yoh kept quite about when the Kaguya Monk talked about taking so many lives and that he didn't want to risk him as well. Yoh, at the moment, hatting his lack of experience in life. For if he were older he would have more experiences and would probably be able to say something to the older monk but he wasn't. He was nothing but a preteen who hasn't been out of the village with the exception of his latest mission. Yoh wanting to say something so badly however there was nothing he could say. So he just stood quite.
When Taj faced him one more his eyes looked up at him as he heard him. "As insane as it sounds it something that makes you content so you will always keep to it right?," Yoh mumbled a bit to a point where it almost couldn't be heard the young Kaguya to embarrassed to speak it out loud. Yoh basically picking it up from when Taj told him about something his teacher had told him. His mind thinking about what he said about what the man did for him.

(Ahhh... There must be someone on this site willing to turn little scenelets like this into flash animations and/or fan comics. Would you be game, Kaz of the DBZ people?)
Taj chuckled at this, genuinely amused and letting the angst fall away from him again, "Correct. Now... Since we have bared our worries to one another, shall we go and see what I can teach you in preparation for whatever you decide to do in the next few days? Presuming you feel free of pain and are free of other duties for the time being."
The Monk tilted his head to one side, waiting for an answer.

(Would love to although I don't have flash so can't do it that way although I could do the comic way however my comics suck so yeah *cries*)
Yoh gave a thin smile when he heard Taj speak. The young Kaguya glad that he was back to normal. Yoh standing up on the ground. "That sounds good although can we stop by the Park first Ame-sensei wanted me to meet her there after I got healed to tell her about what happen with my opponent before she came," Yoh explained begining to feel a bit incomfertable at the thought his fight although he made sure to hide it.
"And also we can asked if I could take time off from being in her team while I'm training with you so think you can come because I don't want to ask her by myself," Yoh asked him. It wasn't that he was affriad of his sensei however he just didn't want what happened at the Hokage Mountain to happen there at the park too when he wasn't able to saying anything but mummbled words.

"Very well, Yoh. I've already cleared my departure with the hosptial staff, so we can leave imediately," replied Taj lightly claiming his staff and indicating that the younger Kaguya should put his shirt on again, "You make the intial report and request. I'll back you up if she wishes more explaination. But it is her call in the end unless you decide to take your personal mission."
(To the Park, Kaz? Lead us there and I'll follow. *comforts* And I'm sure you could do a simple four or five panel deal, pick any scene, funny or not, and spin it out...)
